Crafty

This two store that i often went to, well the Arti shop i just found it about a week ago,hehe. 

From many jewelry shop supplies in my city i think they are the best. Run by 2 talented sister, their works are amazing. Their beads, stones and charms supplies really make me drooling every time i go there. When the stones, beads, etc are good quality the price also good,he he. But when they know you are also hand maker sometimes some of the supplies they will sale it up to 50%. Even when the supplies are not sale other things they will give discount, If you are hand maker. They once want to have wire crochet class, but it was cancelled (TuT) since even after 3 months there are only 6 people including me. This is big city, but i think people tend to buy rather than learning or it is because people following things that what is trending right now,who knows it.

Arti store occupied as it written in their cards. Well, not home decor as i see, since they only occupied craft supplies mostly scrap paper supplies and box frame. Why i choose their shop?, Because their price very reasonable from other stores(Scrap paper works is trending right now in my city). But what make me thing when i visited their store and there are two girls asking about scrap paper class, its a bit expensive for a thing that you can learn from Google-ing ‘how to……’. Beside when the shop keeper asked did i buy things for scrap paper and i said no its for other thing and decoupage. They didn’t know what is decoupage. But overall this store much better than others.

Those small keys, clock figure and butterflies are from Arti store. Charms and nest from Lady Charm. The big key i found it in old wardrobe. Fond of keys, clock figure and bird nest?. And it is hard to find, in and out if i meet craft store and only Arti who have  keys and clock figure.

By the way, curious about making cushion cover. Since i have scrap cloth/fabric(everytime my mom/sis come buy cloth/fabric/lace and make something, they always asked if there’s any left over and left it in here). Not neat at all since i done it with hand sewing. I don’t know how to use sewing machine,haha. I didn’t use zipper since i don’t have it, so i use press button. I need to learn work with sewing machine i think, it took times with hand sewing.

What i really want to learn lately is carpentry. The easiest thing, like how to make treasure box or jewelry box or storage box. I have the book, but why i think the tools are expensive and the explanation is too general. If the one who knows the basic maybe no problem but complete newbie like me (TwT). I do have some of the tools since my work connect with furnish and home decor. But…there’s no carpentry class in my city. 

Working with Glass

Sometimes we keep things just because they look cute, unique or we can use it later for different thing. Same with me; those are juice bottle, tiny jam jars and glass that i get from buying cakes that i kept from i don’t know when,haha. 

When its still bland, we don’t know what we use it. I found the way how to work with glass when i actually find how to decorate woods.

It is decoupage. Some of you maybe already know it and already work with it. Decoupage is fun, since all the source already in our house. Well, even when you buy it, it is not expensive.

I try to explain as fast as clear as i can, but if you still don’t understand there are tons of explanation in Google.

Things you need is: The thing that you want to decorate(can be anything; your old wood box, paper box, plain bag, etc ), white glue(many source using modge poge-special glue for decoupage), paper warp if you want to cover big areas(optional), images(anything that you like either from magz, cards, printable image, napkin paper etc), acrylic paint(optional), paint brush, any damp sponge, varnish or sealant. 

How to work: Since i like vintage things i paint the image a bit yellowish. Let it dry. (Using paint brush, you need to watery the brush so your brush can move smoothly)Then glue the back of the image on the clean surface, at this stage you still can move the image. When you already sure the place of the image pour the glue again on the surface then press it with damp sponge to make the image attach without bubble or the corner open when it dry. When you work with napkin paper or printable image you need a bit careful not to tear the image. Pour the glue again since some of the glue missing when sponge-ing. Let it completely dry. After ‘really’ dry give varnish or sealant to the image. There are 2 types varnish; matte and gloss. 

Look the photo carefully; the groom i use gloss varnish, the bride i use matte varnish. If you work with glass it is better you use gloss varnish rather than matte. It will give effect that the glass already have the image xD. For box better use matte varnish, for wood you can use between matte or gloss it depends with the painted wood whether it is glossy finishing or matte finishing.  

Tips and foot note: When you work with glass plate and using paper napkin. The image attach at the back of the plate(not the front) and the one that you glue is the front image. When it dry you need to paint in white, if not it will see through glass,haha. When you working with image that you cut from cards you need to varnish a bit much to give effect that isn’t an image that attach to glass. Its different with image that you print to usual paper, the first varnish already make the image really from the glass(see the photo above). Please note that isn’t food save, you can use to keep things but not food and beverages. For the glass just clean with wet cloth.
